Sunday picnic dress

Sunday picnic dress by nest full of eggs
More Kids Clothes Week sewing. My second garment is complete. I had the pleasure of sewing up a new pattern by Suz of sewpony called the Sunday picnic dress. There are many options with the pattern and I decided to sew a sleeveless, collarless one without buttons. This dress includes some of my favorite details with little girl dresses: invisible zipper, pockets, and piping.

I actually did iron the hem, it just looks like I didn't. The only change I would make with this dress is that I think it would look really nice with piping around the armholes and it would be something that would be easy to add. I had fun working with border fabric with this one and come to think of it, I think this is the first time I've ever used border fabric??

kid's clothes week

Well things are looking really good for my KCW list. I had a goal of sewing up three garments. Two of the three are done so far and the third and last one is cut out. I'm working on a Mulberry Tunic which I hope to get done in the next few days. Back to sewing!

This is just gorgeous! Perfect fabric choice
Beautifully done! I am in awe of the INSIDE of that dress. That is the most gorgeously neat inside ever.
I love the fabric too!
Oh, that's SO BEAUTIFUL!
Plus, you always sew the most beautiful insides I've ever seen! I'm sure she can get away with wearing this dress inside out :)
I adore this fabric, so pretty and lovely sewing.

It's some of the new fabrics I bought at SR Harris Burnsville, I thought it'd be fun to work with, it gives a cool ombre effect...
I love it! This dress is so pretty!! You always match the best fabric and pattern combinations!
This dress is amazing and the fabric choice makes it even better!
How did you do that seam finish on the inside where the top & bottom meet? Is that bias tape? It looks so clean! Love it!

Laura, yes, for the bodice/skirt seam I finished it with bias tape, it's my favorite way of finishing that type of seam.
The inside of your garments are always as lovely as the outside. Beautiful dress!
Gorgeous - inside and out!
It's a stunning dress! I love how impeccably finished that bodice is.
This is gorgeous! And I love the guts shot, just as beautiful as the outside.
